Screaming
trees

The idea

Protecting forests from illegal deforestation.

Screaming Trees is a connected treehouse made to protect forests from illegal harvesters. It was built to use only open-source IoT sensors, so it can be replicated.

It monitors ambient sound and listens for a rhythm like a chainsaw. That way we do not need battery-heavy sensors to analyse the signal.

When it hears an unusual pattern, it sends an SMS with its location to the local green NGOs and forestry force.
